CSC AI Summer School 2026: Highlights

Okay. We may be biased. But we don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this year’s edition of the CSC AI Summer School was a resounding success.

Building on 2025’s debut event, we delivered an improved five-day workshop that covered the essentials of safely developing, deploying, and evaluating AI in NHS contexts.

Taking place from Monday 6th to Friday 10th July, the week’s teaching was structured as follows:

  • Day 1: Permissions and security
  • Day 2: Software as a Medical Device and quality management systems
  • Day 3: Data access and collection
  • Day 4: Machine learning operations
  • Day 5: Evaluation and deployment of commercial AI products

The teaching was delivered through combinations of lectures, interactive exercises, and practical workshops.

Importantly, there was cake every day.

Over the course of the week, attendees were given the resources necessary to safely develop, deploy, and evaluate AI at their home institutions. They’ll also join an alumni community that meets once a year to stay in touch and provide updates on progress. And thanks to their feedback, next year’s edition of the summer school will be even better. If you’re interested in joining us, keep your eyes peeled for updates. Hopefully, we’ll see you there!
